The Golden Hour...

...delivers the most beautiful and elegant portraits. The sun sets low on the horizon, often bringing opportunities for both the photographer and client. In this instance, Lyndsey and I planned a natural light portrait shoot at Heritage Park, located in the Old Town district of San Diego.

For those who are not familiar with the term, Natural Light Photography are images created from only natural, ambient light; no incorporation of artificial light sources such as flashes and strobes. I shoot both, although it has only recently-within the past couple of years, that I have developed a love for natural light portraits.

This particular shoot served a specific purpose: to find beautiful light to emphasize my model's natural beauty. It was golden hour, as the sun aligned for its graceful descent. We found a cluster of trees, thanks to the soft rustling of the leaves brought on by the continuous breeze. The canopy of leaves above us filtered out most light, with the exception of a few pockets of gold. Can you tell where I staged my model?

Here are a few captures of moody imagery from this portrait shoot. Let me know what you think, and feel free to contact me if you are interested in scheduling your own beautiful portrait shoot with me.
